I feel it impressed upon my heart to write this article to help the believers who are not yet aware of the truth, so they can become enlightened and to not remain under the banner of deception.
There are serious consequences for deception and I strongly believe that it is better to walk in the way of truth, than to discover the consequences for being deceived.
I will endeavour to make this as concise as possible. It will be very straightforward with no fluff!
In this article, we are going to answer the following questions and I urge every reader falling upon this article to read till the end.
- What is the meaning of the word ‘Easter’?
- What is the origin of Easter?
- How did the death and resurrection of Yahusha Ha’ Maschiach become part of the Easter celebrations?
- Should a follower of Yahusha celebrate Easter?
- What should every believer (follower of The Way) celebrate instead?
What is the meaning of the word ‘Easter’?
Easter is the English word for the Babylonian Goddess called Semiramis (Eostre/Eastre/Ishtar).
Semiramis is known by different names in various parts of the world, but they all represent this one Goddess.
She is also known as Artemis, Aphrodite, Ostara, Venus, Cybele, Biblia, Frigga, Stella, Inna and much more.
What is the origin of Easter?
Research has proven that the name Easter was never associated with the death and resurrection of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach in the original Scriptures. Easter is actually derived from the word ‘Eostre.’
Eostre was Queen Semiramis, the wife of Nimrod (Genesis 10:6-8).
Nimrod built the major cities of Babel, Asshur, Nineveh, and Calah (Genesis 10:10-12), and they were all known for their evil and unimaginable worship practices and perversion.
After Nimrod's death, Queen Semiramis ensured the continuation of those pagan forms of worship and its associated evil practices. She began by deifying Nimrod as the sun god. She later gave birth to her son Tammuz, whom we can also see was worshiped by the Israelites (Yashar'el) in the scriptures. She successfully convinced the people that this son was supernaturally conceived and the child promised by 'god' in Genesis 3:15. The people therefore worshiped Tammuz as the reincarnation of Nimrod, but more importantly, the people worshiped Queen Semiramis as the mother goddess.
This religion of sun (Nimrod) and moon (Eostre) worship is known for the horrible human sacrifice, idolatry, astrology, sex rituals and satanic worship.
Lew White explains that in essence the original witch on planet Earth was Semiramis, who became the Great Mother in many cultures. The ‘mother of the gods’ and ‘mother nature’ are references to her.
This Ishtar/Easter festival involved the Rites of Spring near the Equinox of Venus, when Pagans believed the Earth Mother was impregnated by the sun.
It’s important to understand that we may call this myth, but these were their beliefs and doctrines which have become embedded into the very fabric of our society and even the christian religion.
The Babylonian symbol for the female, is the circle with the cross beneath. The round cakes were baked for the ‘Queen of Heaven’ or ‘Great Mother’. Hence, the reason why lots of hot cross buns are also sold during this season.
DO NOT BUY ANY HOT CROSS BUNS!!
To ensure a prosperous season, the pagans would also roll the eggs decorated with the bright colours of Spring on their fields. Their assumptions were that it will imbue fertility. The eggs were hidden from evil spirits in rabbits’ nests, the rabbits themselves also being another symbol of fertility. The emblem for this Babylonian Ishtar celebration is also the flower of lily.
Have you ever wondered why there are so many decorated eggs or chocolate bunnies being marketed around now?
Do we care as believers of Yahuah to know the truth and to do things the way the scripture asks us?
So how then did Easter/Ishtar become associated with the death and resurrection of Yahusha Ha’ Mashiach?
How did the resurrection of Yahusha Ha’ Maschiach
become part of the Easter celebrations?
Before we dive into this I want to ask you the reader one simple question.
Are you serious about following scripture and abiding by what it says?
If you’ve answered yes, then it should be very easy to humble yourself to the Heavenly Father and His Ruach (Spirit) of Truth.
So, what is the truth?
How did Easter become christianised?
The truth is Saints, the ‘Christian’ movement was created by Rome and popularised by Constantine.
He passed numerous edicts establishing these pagan practices and festivals as laws to be observed by all in the land. He simply absorbed some of those pagan practices and festivals and established the ‘christian faith’.
Consequently, we have many churches today observing several of Constantine’s edicts without having any knowledge of it. That’s a discussion for another time.
Thus, Ishtar, the same word we have today for Easter, was passed by Constantine who made sure that it superseded Passover at the Council of Nicaea (White, 2015)
We see the appearance of the word Easter in Acts 121-4: in the KJV. It is important to note that this is an error made by the translators. This word was not found in any other translation before the King James Version.
The translators inserted Easter to replace Pesach (Passover) which is found in the Septuagint, the Latin Vulgate and the Hebrew Scriptures. Go check it out for yourself! I did the same.
Should a follower of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach (Yahusha, the Messiah) celebrate Easter?
The scripture has clearly condemned the worship of the Queen of Heaven, who we have already demonstrated is the same Ishtar/ Eostre/Easter in numerous places.
The scripture records the baking of the cake, burning incense and pouring out drink offerings to her as acts of worship unto her.
The worship of the Queen of Heaven angered Yahuah so much that he even said to Jeremiah, to not even intercede for the nation of Yashar'el (Israel), for HE WILL NOT HEAR THEIR PRAYER.
Friends, for me this is a devastating place to be.
Now, as we worship the Aluah (MIGHTY ONE) of the heavens who does not change, do you think that it will be accepted today because Rome has instituted Easter, which really is recognizing the death and resurrection of their pagan Jesus.
JESUS IS A SUBSTITUTE. HE IS NOT THE TRUE MESSIAH OF OUR SCRIPTURES!
Here are just a few scriptures for your reference:
Jeremiah 7:16 – 20
Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee. Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other alahim, that they may provoke me to anger. Do they provoke me to anger? saith the Yahuah: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?
Therefore thus saith Yahuah; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.
Jeremiah 44: 11-29
Therefore thus saith the Yahuah Tsevaoth (Yahuah of hosts), the Aluah of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah. And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach. For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:
So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape. Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other elohiym, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the Yahuah, we will not hearken unto thee. But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men? Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying, The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the Yahuah remember them, and came it not into his mind?
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.
And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the Yahuah, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil.
These scriptures clearly reveal to us how our Heavenly and Qodesh Father feels about any worship given to this deity.
Not because Constantine has mixed the account of our risen Yahusha with the Easter eggs, bunnies, lilies and hot cross buns that it has now become QODESH and we should just follow along and believe that there is no consequence for it.
Saints, when you don’t know, you don’t know.
However, the Ruach (Spirit) of Truth is coming to us today so we will not remain ignorant.
For as the scripture says that ‘his people perish because of a lack of knowledge’ or ignorance (Hosea 4:6).
Do we want to do things as the scripture tells us?
Oh yes!
So, what should we as qadashym (saints) observe instead?
What should every Saint celebrate instead?
Every saint should celebrate on the 14th day after the start of the Biblical New year, the Passover Feast of Yahuah and the Cup of the Renewed Covenant!
Passover is during the month of Abib. Abib is an older name for Nissan which is the first Month of Yahuah's Calendar.
On that day, we have the passover meal which consists of lamb, bitter herbs (green salad) and unleavened bread. This is the memorial of how he smote Egypt and delivered the children of Yashar'el. Yahuah has said that it is a night to be remembered forever (Exodus 12:42).
This is then followed by the memorial that Yahusha asked us to keep as found in the scriptures.
“And as they were eating, YAHUSHA took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins”. (Matt 26:26-28)
“For I have received of YAH that which also I delivered unto you, That the ADONAI YAHUSHA the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the renewed covenant in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew ADONAI’S death till he come. (1 Cor 11: 23-26 - CEPHER)
However, before we have this meal our family goes through a time of self examination as is required by the scriptures.
“Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the YAHUAH, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the YAHUAH. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning YAHUAH’S body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.” (1 Cor 11: 27-30 - CEPHER)
The following day is then the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This feast starts and ends with a sabbath and lasts for 7 days. (Numbers 28:16-18)
Here, we remove anything with leaven from the house and we eat unleavened bread for 7 days. It is a memorial time in my house. During this time we talk about Yahuah’s amazing hand of deliverance during those days.
We also get rid of any leaven of unforgiveness, forgetfulness, works of the flesh or anything that displeases Yah from our lives (1 Cor 5:8).
There are some who teach that the Father’s feasts are abolished.
However, this isn’t true.
Yahusha did not die to abolish the Torah and its feasts. Check out my New Covenant Series on Kingdom Seekers YouTube Channel where I go into much depth about this. All the blood sacrifices are abolished and the Priest Hood has been changed to an eternal Priesthood, but the Torah still stands.
Yahusha died for our eternal redemption. Read Hebrews 8, 9 and 10 and so many other wonderful scriptures which tells us that without the shedding of his blood there would be no remission of sins.
Additionally Exodus 12:14 states that it is a feast of Yahuah by an ordinance forever.
You can read Leviticus 23 for the Feasts of Yahuah that are a statute forever. We no longer shed the blood of animals; for Yahusha’s blood of this renewed covenant has already been shed and we observe his feasts unto him as His people. However, we observe those feasts on an even deeper and spiritual level.
Do you know that when Yahusha returns that he will be keeping his Father’s feasts still?
Read Isaiah 66:23 which is just one scripture amongst others!
So qadashym, let us follow the scripture.
Haven’t you also noticed something with the Roman Easter? Jesus died on Friday evening and resurrected Sunday morning.
Is that 3 days and 3 nights in the earth?
Clearly no!
National holidays fall on a different day every year, but never the Roman resurrection day? It is always the Sun-day which Rome has instituted as the Venerable Day of the Sun. Their pagan Jesus died on Friday. He is the crucified fish, who died on the Frigga Day. Roman Day of Venus.
It is all to fit Roman Pagan traditions!
This is the spirit of error!
I give thanks to our Heavenly Father that many believers are waking up to this right now and are embracing the truth!
Here’s the truth!
The three days and three nights explained!
Yahusha was the Passover lamb!
The day after Passover is the feast of unleavened bread which begins with a sabbath. That is why it was a high sabbath (during the week) and not the seventh day sabbath as many would think.
Good Friday is a tradition from Constantine of Rome and is not scriptural. You cannot get three days and three nights from Friday.
It was from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening (Day 1); Thursday evening to Friday evening (Day 2) and Friday evening to Saturday evening (Day 3). Remember according to scripture the day begins at evening.
That’s why he is also Adonai of the Shabbat. So, when they came to the tomb early in the morning on the first day of the week, he was already risen. He was risen either at the very end of Sabbath or very early on the first day of the week. Since according to scripture the new day starts from the evening.
We give all the esteem to our Heavenly Father for the gift of everlasting life through Yahusha Ha’Mashiach, his Son!
So, when someone celebrates Easter they are giving homage and worship to the Queen of Heaven.
When someone says Happy Easter! They are actually proclaiming the name of the Queen of heaven. This is scary! This is the spirit of error!
Let us take this seriously, for Yahuah certainly takes this very seriously . Do not take things lightly. He is Qodesh, Qodesh, Qodesh and we are also called to be Qodesh!
We must thirst for the truth and be humble when it is presented to us and then desire to turn away from those things that displease our Heavenly Father.
Worshipping the Queen of Heaven angered Yahuah back then and caused the children of Yashar'el to experience his wrath. Regardless of the disguise that is given to it, or the world wide commercialization of this worldly festival - the end result is the same – Yahuah’s wrath.
If this is new to you, repent and serve Yahuah in qodeshah and truth!
Celebrate HIS feasts with joy, obedience and love!
Baruk be Yahuah who is Qodesh forever!
